This Sunday night Peter Dugas continues our study of the book of Daniel chapter 10:1-11-1.

The presence of God brings to Daniel in this chapter a vision that leaves a mark on Daniel.  We talk about intimacy with God all the time today.  But let me say, in the Bible, intimacy with God always leaves its mark. Prayer does too. The focus was on prayer and what great things can be revealed if we truly seek God in prayer. I don’t feel we are as intimate as we like to think we are or we would see visions too! The Old Testament picture of what it means to be intimate with God is in the limping Jacob, moving away slowly, with an injured hip after wrestling with an angel of the Lord.  When you are intimate with God, it leaves a mark as it did with Daniel and his vision.

Sunday night Tracy Marr, our intern, spoke from Daniel 9:1-19 and shared a prayer of Daniel. He then got us to rewrite it in our own words for us as a Church and our community. Here is what came from that service:

Great and awesome God who keeps his word hear us now. We have gone our way, we don't reach out and we are sorry. We know sometimes it goes in one ear out the other. Sorry we haven't influenced the town. Sorry we have not helped our leaders. Sorry for not obeying, we know your promises for us. We have not changed, we get what we deserve, your word is true. We turned away. We have faced some hard times. May you be glorified. Please shine on us. May we do something this week that you can smile upon. Hear us, because you are wonderful and we will be humbled. Do it for you.
